about
"When You Smile" was written and recorded by fans from around the world to celebrate Mark Owen's 50th birthday on 27th January 2022. Mark’s fans wanted to demonstrate how his music has influenced them over the years – from his early days with pop hitmakers Take That in the 1990s, through his solo work, to the more recent Take That songs. In addition, MO Live are long-standing supporters of Solving Kids' Cancer, and all proceeds go straight to the charity.

lyrics
Sweet boy with the kindest eyes
Dancing dolphin, wild abandon
How we hoped you'd touch our hands
At the barriers where we were standin'
We’d wait to see you on the BBC and MTV
Five brothers taught us what it meant to be a family
Until you said it was the end for now
We'd have to bid you all goodbye somehow
It’s like all our hearts were crying
It’s like all our hearts were crying
Then you smiled
Then you smiled
Green man with the golden shades
Kept our hearts in your back pocket
How we cheered as you lifted off
Soaring solo on your rainbow rocket
You charmed on CBB and rocked at the Academy
The message on our stereo got us believing in the boogie
With every song we couldn't wait to hear
You showed us what it meant to persevere
It’s like all our dreams were flying
It’s like all our dreams were flying
When you smiled
When you smiled
A flood of joyful memories
A never-ending odyssey
Whether five or four or three
No matter what we’ll always be beside you
It's time now to celebrate
50 years of happy hours
Thank you for the songs you sing
The joy you bring to us and ours
We thank you for your art and for your creativity
The hope you give to tiny heroes through your generosity
Without you we would be alone
The everlasting voice that brings us home
It’s like all the stars are shining
It's like all the stars are shining
When you smile
When you smile
